Supper Studio branding + squarespace website design
Supper Studio will meal plan, grocery shop, prep and cleanup to help you avoid the panic of what to make for supper tonight. All you have to do is pick your menu, have a few friends do the same, and just show up to assemble meals at our store front.
The ladies behind Supper Studio wanted a comfortable, cozy, welcoming brand. These buzzwords were the foundation to the brand and squarespace website design.
LOGO & COLOURS
The cutting board symbol felt like the perfect fit for the brand. Every good meal starts with a cutting board. It’s the first step in the cooking process. A good wooden cutting board is also a staple in any kitchen, especially a farmhouse kitchen. The board is used for a variety of things, from chopping, cutting, prepping to actually serving the meal. I chose a friendly, welcoming font to help bring that sense of family and warmness to the brand.
The mood board played a big part in choosing the colours for the brand. The light muted tones, beautiful neutrals, paired with some pops of colour inspired the palette. Which consists of a wide range of blues (light, dark and teal), a charcoal colour, and blush pink.
Type, Patterns & Design Materials
The main typeface is a more relaxed, friendly font that aligns perfectly with those buzzwords. I’ve paired this with a more modern, sleek type and a beautiful traditional font for your body copy that helps establish the trustworthy value.
The patterns are where I chose to bring in that country vibe, and farmhouse feel. I chose a distressed wood pattern especially because of this and the design elements you are creating in the studio. The second pattern is a more abstract arrow pattern that aligns with the warm, welcoming feel. And the third pattern incorporates hand-drawn kitchen icons, which was also very prevalent in the mood board.
Kraft paper was used as the background for a few templates and the business cards. We included some social templates that could be used on Instagram for recipe features, sales or special events, and testimonials from past attendees. Recipe cards are used for the workshops held at the studio instructing participants what to put in their meals.
Squarespace Website Design
Overall, each page was built and formatted strategically. The client listed goals of each page in their homework, and I take that into consideration when building each page. This helps guide the reader through the site in a natural and strategic way.
Branding elements were pulled and sprinkled throughout the site. Keeping with the warm, welcoming and friendly tone of the brand.
Our biggest problem to solve on the site was how to display the meals & sessions page in a way that would make sense to the reader, and be easy to checkout and update on the back end. We used a few summary blocks to achieve this, and a static product page.
SUMMARY & WRAP-UP
Keeping their ideal client in mind, we developed brand strategy, a new look that resonates well with their ideal client, and a fully-functional Squarespace e-commerce site.
