Branding + Squarespace Website Design for Ye Olde Soap Shoppe
Ye Olde Soap Shoppe Branding + Squarespace Website Design
Ye Old Soap Shoppe is an artisan small batch company specializing in high quality, luxurious, beautiful soap that smells heavenly. They are currently in their first year of business, and are hoping to move towards more wholesale orders, and creating a brick and mortar store creating, making and sharing the product with the world is a driving factor behind the business.
The beauty of the product is a distinguishing characteristic. Tussah silk is added to every bar of soap, and the presentation of the product is very important for the brand.
Together we worked on Branding and Squarespace website design for their new e-commerce shop! These ladies also worked with Brittany from Bourbon & Honey for their website content and Moments Marketing for their brand and product photography.
LOGO & COLOURS
The values that were present throughout all the homework and consultation were timeless, traditional and luxurious. This is displayed through the traditional type and more timeless version of stacking the type. The logo and submark also feature two of your top ten ingredients (Lavendar and peppermint) in a hand-drawn icon, also helping to bring that traditional, timeless feel tot he design.
The submark is used as a secondary logo, and often times a design element in marketing materials. It is used to support the brand. For this submark we kept it very simple, inter mixing the peppermint ingredient with the "Y" lettering.
Type, Patterns & Design Materials
The colour palette was pulled directly from the mood board and product photos that were shared in the homework stage. The colours have a timeless and traditional feel to them, without being stuffy or unapproachable as the friendliness and approachability of the brand is important. The grey, emerald colour is the main feature, but it is supported by a range of neutrals (cream, grey and brown). There are also two accent colours: the blue and blush pink to add more interest to design materials. Because your product is natural, and homemade, the palette reflects this by pulling colours directly from the flower photo in the mood board ensuring these are natural colours.
Typography is very important to have in your brand standards, as it is one of the main ways to ensure cohesiveness and consistency. They type chosen for the brand emulate the rustic, modern, and timeless feel.
Patterns are a way to add texture and depth to your brand and marketing materials. Each of these patterns showcase different ingredients included in your top ten list, including: peppermint, lavendar, grapefruit and lemon. The final pattern is a woodgrain, based off the mood board and what their goals are for their eventual storefront.
Included as marketing materials in the project were a notecard to include in online orders, tissue paper for wrapping the soap and stickers/stamps which can be used for securing the product after packaging.
Squarespace Website Design
To finish up our project we created a simple, sleek and modern website to showcase Ye Olde Soap Shoppe and their products. We combined all of their brand elements to create a website that was effective, leading the visitor through each page, showcasing their beautiful product photography, and converting and connecting people through their new website copy. We categorized and organized all the products so that a user can easily navigate their website.
